The process of “aerification” is a well-known term, especially among golfers.
However, aeration of the lawn is also important for many other sports where a healthy, well-kept lawn is important.
The lawn is aerated using an aerating device, which uses various spoons to poke, press or excavate holes in the ground.
Large holes are then filled up with sand.
This is how the compacted Lawn is loosened up and can “breathe” again, in wet areas the water can run off better into the ground. Compressed lawn is broken up, the soil is improved and lawn growth is promoted.
Subsequent fertilization and reseeding ensure that an even, healthy lawn is created and maintained.
Aerification is particularly important before a growth spurt, in early May or mid-August. However, the period can be adapted to the climate and soil conditions and can be carried out more frequently if needed.

Spoon milled, drilled and turned from solid material with optimized ejection window and angle. Long service life, top ejection, the ideal spoon for a careful and comprehensive soil replacement. In many sizes and different attachment mounts. Suitable for aerating machines.
The hollow spoon made of pipematerial, is available in different wall thicknesses, ejection to the side/upwards, lighter and cheaper.
The soil is not only “punctured” and aerated (gas exchange), a soil cone is also removed from the soil, which loosens the surrounding soil.
Aeritool has 4 different shapes of these spoons made of solid material:
– round with a pointed tip (a round hole is pierced in the ground)
– round with a slanting tip (a round hole is pierced in the ground)
– four-ribbed (a “×” is pierced in the ground)
– flat (a “−” is pierced in the ground)
A hole is created, the ground is “pierced” and thereby ventilated, gas exchange takes place.
Aeritool root cutting blades are suitable for many coring machines. These are installed lengthwise and used to cut through the root system that grows across and to aerate the greens, especially in the hot and dry season.
The water flow and soil wetting are improved, the cut slots “do not open” despite the hot weather, as otherwise possibly with continuous slitting.
The knives are made conical and thus hardly affect the playing surface when pulled out. A detailed report from a Greenkeeper colleague can be found here.
